About the PerfecDraw®
The genuine PerfecDraw was designed and created by Dr. Rod Kurthy. It is USA design & utility patented, and internationally patent pending. It was engineered to perfect the draw of cigars like no other instrument in history.
Cigars are sort of like steaks. How do you like your steak cooked? I like mine medium-rare plus. We all have our own favorite way of having our steaks cooked. Likewise, we all have our own favorite level of draw resistance on our cigars. There are tight draws, acceptable draws… and our own “Wow! What a GREAT draw!”
And when our cigar draw is in the “Wow!” category, we enjoy that cigar even more than usual. With the PerfecDraw, sure, you can fix truly tight cigars. But you will find that your most common use of the PerfecDraw will be to fine-tune the draw of any cigar to your own personal idea of a “Wow!” draw. But don’t take our word for it – look at all the reviews on our website and the hundreds and hundreds of reviews on Amazon.

Use As a Nubber
The PerfecDraw is “Perfec” when used as a nubber. Many nubbers can be bulky, right where they pierce into the cigars - especially with double piercing needles. When inserting the PerfecDraw into the cigar nub, the blades and channels grip the tobacco securely so the nub will not rotate while smoking. Inserting the PerfecDraw into the nub at a 45-degree angle (see photo at top of page), and with such a thin shaft, it makes smoking your nub very comfortable and easy.

Some Background Information

The PerfecDraw is a durable, high quality precision instrument. The outer casing of the PerfecDraw is made of heat hardened, super-light-weight, aircraft/aerospace grade 6061 T-6 aluminum. It also has a 25-micron deep, “hard coat” for exceptional durability.
The working shaft is precisely designed with undercut, sharp 30-degree angle cutting blades, as well as sharp 90-degree edge tobacco pulling channels. It removes small bits of tobacco exactly where needed, and pulls on the surrounding tightly packed tobacco to loosen the draw.
Created by Dr. Rod Kurthy - Rod is a dentist and dental research and development scientist. He has an educational background in physics, chemistry and mechanical engineering, and is an avid cigar enthusiast.

The PerfecDraw working shaft and blades are constructed of meticulously precision machined, non-corrosive 304 surgical stainless steel. The instrument will never corrode, and blades will maintain excellent effectiveness when used as directed.
It has a sharp, tapered, flattened spade tip to chew up the tobacco as you twist it into the cigar to avoid outward expansion to prevent damage and cracking of the wrapper - even on thin cigars.
Rod has been involved in R&D in most fields of dentistry over the past 45 years. With his years of R&D, it’s simply natural for Rod to notice problems and frustrations surrounding anything he enjoys, and to create solutions to those frustrations.

The PerfecDraw received the Cigar Trophy, which is the top international cigar industry award, for Best Cigar Accessory of 2018 (of any type). Cigar Trophy Awards are presented based on voting by real cigar smokers like you from around the world.
We don’t simply want to drill a hole up the middle of the cigar. We want smoke to travel through the tobacco, not through a hole in the tobacco. The tobacco pulling channels loosen up the surrounding tobacco, so as you continue to smoke, the humidified vapor traveling up the cigar quickly causes the loosened tobacco to relax, expand and fill the area where tobacco was removed.
PerfecDraw was originally created for his own personal use. Rod really had no idea that his new fun venture would skyrocket as it has. With three unique, frustration solving, cigar accessories currently available, and four more currently in development and manufacturing, Perfec has become a rapidly growing cigar accessory company that will continue to find and solve frustrations of cigar smokers around the world.

Congratulations from Carlos Fuente,Jr.
The event was held the evening of the first day of the famed 3-day InterTabac Cigar and Pipe Show, which is the largest cigar trade show in the world each year, held in Dortmund, Germany. The award ceremony guest list was truly a “Who’s Who” of the international cigar industry. It was humbling to be honored by them.
It was the best item I ever bought. It works great. I recommend it to all cigar lovers!
It works better than other draw tools but I still have some cigars that still won’t draw even with this tool. I have found that if I make 2 or 3 holes before I light or cut than it works better.
Hi Matthew. Thanks for your review. Yes, though I am the inventor of the PerfecDraw, I too sometimes need to create more than one location of penetration. Remember, the PerfecDraw is a tool, not a magic wand. Here is the most common problem that results in needing more than one hole:
When the tobacco filler leaves are not sticky, they do not adhere strongly to each other. So when you use the PerfecDraw to remove some tobacco, those 'loosened' tobacco leaves inside the cigar sorta relax and expand, resulting in less pressure inside the binder and wraper. They expand to fill in the area where you removed some tobacco. That is the ideal, and by far most common, when using the PerfecDraw. But keep in mind, as tobacco ferments, one of the chemical processes is the conversion of starch (complex carbohydrates - long-chain molecules) to sugars (short chain molecules). And sugars are sticky. The formation of those 'sugars' can cause some amount of stickiness of the leaves. When this occasionally happens, as they roll the cigars, the packed filler tobacco sorta all sticks together. So the leaves do not spread out after you remove some tobacco. This is more common in certain cigars, but can happen with any cigar when certain batches of tobacco are used, or could be even certain specific individual leaves. Luckily, this isn't very common.
Anyway, yes, sometimes you may need to insert the PerfecDraw into slightly different locations, or even at very, very slightly different angles. And occasionally, albeit very rarely, you will even find cigars that are beyond hope. They're just too messed-up. Frustrating, isn't it?
Thanks again for your review. Rod Kurthy
